These old photos represent various period of Tuku, which show the change of tuku in every time and bring up the good memory of the elders.
There are many old street in Taiwan, in Tuku, the old street refers to Chungsan street. During the Japanese rule period, the whole street was lay with red bricks and the roadway was very narrow, which only allow one carriage going through at a time. Many shops and houses of significant cultural value were locate ??along the Chungsan Street. These buildings, mostly were shops, built in around 1930 and spread across the Chungsan Street. Those shops sold agricultural products, such as the sesame oil, peanut oil and unhusked rice. The products were sale throughout the whole Taiwan, even transport to Japan. Most of the houses at the time were single-storey store houses or two-storey buildings and the structure were build with geomantic theory. For example, the shape of the road was design to be S-shape like, just like a Chinese dragon, brings up good fortunes. And also according to hydromechanics and fluid dynamics, this kind of design could reduce the rain and water from breach the surface of the road.
